Missed out on last weekend's Collaboration Fest?

Friday, March 13, 2015

Breckenridge Brewery and nationally acclaimed rock/bluegrass band Leftover Salmon announce a unique beer and music collaboration today. This year, these two kindred Colorado spirits each celebrate 25 years of craftsmanship, so they've come together to formulate a beer that celebrates the milestone.  Packaged in 22-oz bottles with a download code for 25 live songs from Leftover Salmon, the beer will debut at Breckenridge Brewery's annual Hootenanny on July 18th.  Leftover Salmon is headlining the event, which is the first public party scheduled at Breckenridge's new brewery in Littleton, Colorado.

The Music and Beer Conspiracy

Handcrafted beer and handcrafted music – together, as they should be.  The process has begun to create a unique beer recipe that captures the essence of these two native Colorado organizations.  While Breckenridge Brewery is busy brewing and conditioning the jointly developed beer, Leftover Salmon will find time in the studio to compile and master twenty-five outstanding live song performances into an album to commemorate its 25th anniversary.  The album will be released exclusively by download with the beer, bottles of which feature unique label artwork by artist John Vogl.  After the bottle & album release at the Hootenanny on July 18th, the package will be sold across the nation where Breckenridge beer is sold. Read More...

Have you tried what's new this season?

Ophelia returns for an encore performance.  Her debut last year as our new spring seasonal was quite inspiring.  Like her namesake from Shakespeare's Hamlet, this beer is sweet and innocent. The unique hoppy wheat beer has a modest 5% ABV and offers a refreshing crispness with whispers of tropical fruit. It's worth noting, however, that unlike Shakespeare's Ophelia, there's no tragic ending with this beer.  Quite the opposite, the beer's light and hoppy finish leaves you wanting another.

Hurry, though – the curtain is closing on this seasonal.  SummerBright will be here before you know it!

Thanks to all who joined us to release Barleywine Batch #2 last Friday night!

We enjoyed hanging out with you in the brewery, tasting Batch #1 and Batch #2 side-by-side, while enjoying the sounds of Andy Thorn, banjo player for Leftover Salmon.

The first Golden Ticket was given away.  Stay tuned for more info in May on how you can be a lucky winner yourself.

A year in the making, Barleywine Batch #2 is a traditional English-style barley wine that was cold conditioned for months and then aged in French oak Cabernet Sauvignon barrels.  We find it gives off aromas of prune, molasses and wet oak. It hits the palate with more prunes, round maltiness and a bit of hops, with subtle hints of cabernet in the finish.

Barley wines are known to cellar beautifully.  We tucked away some of our original Batch #1 bottles (aged in fresh American Oak barrels) which are available for sale in our Tasting Room at 471 Kalamath Street, Denver.  Barleywine Batch #2 is also now available in our Tasting Room, and you'll see it on the shelves in select stores.  We suggest picking up at least 2 - one to enjoy now and one to cellar.

The Starrs Align - Starr Hill and BreckBrew - "Snow Your Oats" Collaboration Beer on the Way!

February 2015 is officially collab month here at Breckenridge Brewery.  How fun is this?!

Today, we are honored to have Robbie O'Cain, Brewmaster at Starr Hill Brewery in Crozet, VA, here with us!  Brewing with our own Bob Harrington and Matt Barnes, the team is carefully executing a special Chocolate Oatmeal Stout that the two breweries formulated together.  Robbie shipped ahead malt and barley used in Dark Starr, Little Red RooStarr, and other great Starr Hill stouts, and he carried with him locally sourced Virginia oats.  Breckenridge Brewery threw in 200 pounds of Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory (of Durango, CO) dark chocolate to round out the 50 bbl brew.

With inspiration from the snowstorm outside while they brew, they've just named this indulgent beer, "Snow your Oats."

With its new farm-inspired brewery campus opening in May, the brewery projects 30% growth in volume and the flexibility to produce more small-batch beers, exciting collaborations, and interesting one-offs. The new brewery in Littleton, Colorado, is wrapping up construction. In addition to the 76,000 square-foot brewery, cellar, and warehouse buildings, the campus includes its Farm House restaurant, which promises an open and welcoming visitor experience with a farm-to-table menu, an outdoor beer garden and music venue, and a world-class tour program.
