Earth Day Weekend at Breckenridge Brewery: Project Green for a Greener Future

At Breckenridge Brewery, Earth Day isn’t just a date on the calendar—it’s something we show up for every year. Through our annual Project Green initiative, we team up with local organizations doing real, meaningful work for the environment and celebrate the season the best way we know how: with great beer.

This year, we’re proud to partner with Denver Urban Gardens (DUG) and Compost for Colorado, and to mark the occasion with a beer that’s as fresh and vibrant as spring itself.

Meet Project Green: Strawberry Basil Saison

Thoughtfully brewed with classic saison character and a seasonal twist, Strawberry Basil Saison is a farmhouse ale that balances refreshment and complexity. This beer was made with real strawberry purée and fresh basil, letting those flavors shine without overpowering the beer’s base.

Our signature saison yeast brings soft spice and elegance, while a light dry hop with Lemondrop hops adds bright, zesty lemon notes that lift every sip. It’s crisp, expressive, and perfect for patio season.

Even better? This limited-release beer gives back. $1 from every pint or crowler sold supports Denver Urban Gardens, helping fund their work growing healthy food, building gardens, and strengthening communities across metro Denver. Project Green will be available until it’s gone—so feel free to raise a glass (or two) for a great cause.

Join Us for the Launch: Learn, Sip & Celebrate

We’re kicking off the release with a day focused on learning, connection, and community.

12:00–12:30 PM | Soil Health & Water Retention Workshop
Get your hands (and mind) in the dirt during this beginner-friendly workshop led by DUG’s own “Jungle” Judy. You’ll learn the basics of organic gardening, tips for troubleshooting, and growing techniques tailored for Colorado’s Front Range—no experience required. Everyone leaves with a mini seed-starting kit, complete with quick-growing seeds, organic soil, and a pot.

12:30–3:00 PM | Project Green Tapping
Stick around as the afternoon rolls into a casual launch party celebrating our partnership with Denver Urban Gardens, Compost for Colorado, and Breckenridge Brewery. We’ll officially tap Strawberry Basil Saison and share how every pint poured helps support DUG’s mission.

Brewing With Purpose

Supporting DUG is part of a bigger commitment to sustainability that runs through everything we do:

  • Solar-powered brewing: Our Littleton brewery’s 289-kW solar array supplies more than 20% of our electricity.
  • Serious waste reduction: We achieve 99% waste diversion, with spent grain and yeast reused as feed for local farmers.
  • Certified impact: We hold Silver Certification from the Colorado Green Business Network for water efficiency and emissions reduction.

.

Cheers to Growing Together

This Earth Day weekend is about more than beer—it’s about investing in our community, caring for the environment, and supporting the places we call home. Join us in raising a glass to local impact, fresh ideas, and a Strawberry Basil Saison that tastes as good as it feels.

Cheers to that. 🍻
