Breckenridge Brewery Unveils New Packaging



Breckenridge Brewery is shipping its beer in updated packaging, the result of a project that reinforces the company’s commitment to creating well-balanced and innovative beers. The brewery is rolling out its new look and feel with mainline and seasonal bottles this fall and winter. In 2018, its standard can and nitro can lines will be on the shelves with the fresh look.

“The new packaging reinforces our Colorado roots, craftsmanship, and artistry,” said Todd Usry, the brewery’s president and brewmaster. The labels and carriers feature detailed artwork by Florian Schommer that are at once eye-catching and inviting. “It was important to us that the illustrations feature iconic Colorado formations like our beautiful mountains and inviting landscapes. We chose to work with Florian Schommer because his work gives a depth that’s unique to traditional beer package designs.”

With its art-centric approach to the packaging, the brewery unveiled the new designs at a pop-up art show at its Farm House restaurant in Littleton last week. Viewers had the opportunity to study enlarged, framed prints of the artwork and see the evolution from former designs to new. A silent auction of two of the framed pieces raised funds for RedLine, a Denver non-profit organization that supports artists and youth education through the arts.

The designs shared at the art exhibit revealed refreshing updates to established and beloved characters like the moon on Oatmeal Stout labels and the desert skull on Agave Wheat. Some labels, like Christmas Ale, are familiar with a fresh look, while others, like Vanilla Porter and Mango Mosaic Pale Ale, show more dramatic changes with detailed and interesting scenes.

Breckenridge Brewery worked with design firm, VSA Partners, to create updated packaging that pays homage to its past and looks familiar, yet shows colorful and creative updates that demonstrate the same focus on quality that Breckenridge Brewery puts into all of its beers.
